Boy Scout Troop 42
(aka Little Valley Scouts) offers a year-round adventure-based program designed to offer and encourage effective character, citizenship, and fitness training for boys age 11-17.
In addition to camping, Scouts and adult leaders enjoy activities such as rock-climbing and rappelling, canoeing, target-shooting, visits to military bases, and more while accommodating the needs of today’s busy families.
Boy Scout Meetings are held on a weekly basis. Please contact us if you are interested. We are a subdistrict of the Crossroads of the West Council of the Boy Scouts of America
Our Troop’s History
|Our troop was founded in 2019 and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of St. George Utah. Our Troop looks forward to serving the St. George / Washington community. At the current time we have over 15 Life scouts working towards their Eagle.||Given the COVID-19 pandemic, scouting has gone virtual. Our troop plans to slowly begin introducing activities that would allow social distancing such as bicycling. As restrictions ease up, we look forward to white-water rafting, mountain climbing in the area, and summer camp at Maple Dell in mid-July. Every year we try to squeeze in caving, biking, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, wilderness survival camping, outdoor cooking competitions, rifle and shotgun shooting events, and orienteering.||In times of crisis, Scouts find a way to adapt. There are Merit badges for social distancing: 58 badges Scouts can complete at home. Scout leadership has been hearing from Scouts and leaders across the country who have found creative ways to keep on Scouting even while practicing social distancing (staying home and remaining at least 6 feet from others if you must go out).
