Registering as an adult leader

Thank you for your willingness to become a new Adult Scout Leader! Since you are on this page likely you have recently received a call to service in your Ward in a Cub Scout or Boy Scout capacity. Working with these boys and young men is truly an amazing experience.

The Church is the oldest and largest chartered organization of the Boy Scouts of America. For over 100 years, this partnership has helped boys and young men become more converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ, become great missionaries, and wonderful priesthood leaders. You have the sacred opportunity to help the next generation by serving in Scouting! Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts leaders have a unique requirement among Church leadership callings – registering, training and other requirements, are set forth by the Boy Scouts of America, not by the Church!

After accepting your calling, but BEFORE being sustained and BEFORE serving in the Church there are several requirements:

Take Youth Protection – this must be done every 2-years by all adult scout leaders and by any adult who will be spending more than 72-hours at a Scouting event.

You can either register with a paper application or electronically register now by selecting your Ward!

Fill out and sign a Boy Scout Adult Application.

This application must also be signed by the Chartered Organization Representative ('COR') for your Pack or Troop, which is usually the 2nd Counselor in your Ward Bishopric.

It can then be turned in to the Scout Office, located at 204 N 1000 E, St George, UT 84770.

Regardless of if you do it by paper or electronic, your Adult Application will be processed, including a background check. This will take about 2 weeks. Once it is approved and you are registered then you can be sustained, set apart, and start serving in Scouting. Please also fill out the Zion District’s “New BSA Leader Info” online form for your new callling.
