BSA Position Codes

When you register as an adult leader, you need to enter a position code on the Adult Application. Below are  these position codes, along with the name of the position, and if it is a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, or Stake (Sub District) or Scout District position.

For many of these positions, we have created position specific pages, outlining guidelines, responsibilities, and required basic training. Click on the links to go directly to the respective pages.

* – Unit Scouter Reserve position is used in connection with a Stake or District position. For example, you are a Unit Commissioner. You register as a Unit Scouter Reserve the Pack or Troop in your Ward and then as a Unit Commissioner in the District. It is also used if you are an adult who will be spending more than 72-hours on a Scouting event and therefore need to take Youth Protection and register as an adult scout leader, but will be doing no other volunteering in the unit.
