The Cub Scout Packs associated with Little Valley Scouts have 5 Cub Scout ranks: Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light. The requirements for each of these ranks are updated periodically. Most recently, the Cub Scout requirements were updated in December of 2016. Starting January 1st, 2017, Cub Scouts must use the new requirements. While similar to the printed Cub Scout manuals they are different. However, Scoutbook does contain the most current and accurate requirements. These changes can be found in a pamphlet at the Scout Store or just look on Scoutbook. You can also print out an updated addendum from right here.

Unlike Boy Scouts you may only work on one rank at a time and it is based on your age (except 10 year olds) When you first join regardless of age, before you can work on any other rank, you must earn your Bobcat, at age 8 you work toward the Wolf Badge, at age 9 you work toward the Bear Badge, and at 10 you work toward the Webelos and Arrow of Light Badges. Also, Cub Scouts do not have leadership positions or Merit Badges.

Just like in Boy Scouts parents can mark off requirements at home in the scout manual or on Scoutbook.

Fun fact: The Arrow of Light is the only award earned in Cub Scouts you can wear as a Boy Scout.

Once a boy turns 11, they join the 11-year old Patrol and start working on Boy Scout rank advancements.
